Card game roster

This is a post going through the processes of the illustration of my card game oc roster.

So fun-fact...this illustration project started from a small side project I started in 2020. It started with my cardfight vanguard phase, I honestly loved the first season however it lost me at the highschool arc and then the link joker arc. Funny enough the G series was my favorite. And then it got cemented as my fav when we all saw baby Chrono in the Shinemon spin-off (he was so frickin cute damn it!). It doesn't really peak my interests now, but it shaped my childhood. By the way my favorite cards are Dragheart, Luard and masked magician Harri.

Initial Inspiration

So as I stated before my biggest inspiration for this illustration was to redraw a small side project from when I was 16. I took left-over water color paper from my classes and I would cut them into card sizes based on the height and weight of the vanguard cards and would attempt to make my own original clan and a whole deck of 52 cards. I only managed to make 9.

I don't remember a lot of the details considering it was from 5 years ago, I remembered I called it project: Amethyst Moon or something edgy. (Man my naming sense still hasn't changed)

Sketch

I drew the sketch while I was in my parent's house in Bali. I just went through assignment hell, finished my dissertation (do not wanna do that ever again, especially with a certain lecturer that caused me a mental breakdown at week 3 of the semester). I was feeling so much stress at that point so I decided to do some personal art. I found the picture of the cards I had above and I decided, "You know what? I'll redraw some of these.", I then proceeded to sketch out a whole illustration.

Update 3

So I finally finished the line art!!!! Hurray!!!! So now onto the base coloring, For these I used the same color palette as their originals, with slight tweaks however. This is mainly due to the limitations I had with a 10 pack of copic markers back then.

I'm not too worried about the line art and the resolution. I accidentally set the dpi to 200 rather then my usual 300 or 350. So in order to accommodate this I'll focus on the rendering.
